This is amazingly simple to use and I am enjoying going through the various types of meditation. I'm just on week two now of using this and already I can feel I am getting it. It is one thing to sit and try to meditate by yourself and another to get real time feedback from Muse on whether my brain is calming or my heart beat is slowing and so on. Very helpful and I find myself actually looking forward to my brief sessions using Muse. The device does not come with much information on how to use it but once you get the app it all becomes clear and easy. I had no problem adjusting the headband to fit even though I wear glasses while using it.
I really like Muse and I disagree with the negative reviews. I am very experienced with meditation but it isn't always easy to tell if you are really in a calm state in the moment and it's counter intuitive to be monitoring your thoughts. I find the feedback to be very useful in helping me to recover a more relaxed state and chart my progress and I do see a difference in the quality of sessions when I use Muse regularly. I have a better sense of what calm feels like. I don't need it to meditate but I consider it a valuable tool that helps improve the quality of my experience.
I use this at least an hour a day. Usually try to do all of the 4 meditations and maybe the timer and at night I do the body and the breath meditation to make it easier to fall asleep. I'm 22 and my father passed away last year in April. He was all me and my brother had so it had been very difficult and hard. I was yelling and snapping a lot iflver nothing and honestly this, this had helped me stay in a calm mind all day! Obviously things work different for everyone but for me and my situaiabd lifestyle, it's perfect and just what I've been waiting for!
I have both and really got started in 'competitive mindfulness' with the Muse1 (which still works well and is like $50 cheaper this week). I updated to the Muse 2 and happy for that. The Muse 2's red-light pulse monitor has its own series of exercises, helping you reduce heart rate as well as a motion monitor to relax the body. The iPhone app is the same except with additional 'missions' to cover the heart and body. Both were readily able to calibrate with new people (uh, except one with an ear bar...). I got the Muse 2 for the heart sensor which is very important to me and opens a new dimension into mindfulness.
Great device! It’s the first time I’m able to easily go back to a calm status during meditation and most importantly be able to track it. The guide is very helpful and rewarding because you can tell when you do well through direct feedback. Excellent dashboard of activity at the end of each session. Highly recommended for people that meditate and the ones that would like to start and make it a habit.
